AJ Styles has named the WWE Superstar he says could follow in his footsteps and become ‘The Champ That Runs The Camp’ as WWE Champion.

Styles has held the WWE Championship twice since joining WWE from New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2016. The Phenomenal One first captured the title in September 2016 by defeating Dean Ambrose at Backlash. Styles’ second run as champion lasted an incredible 371 days with his reign beginning with a victory over Jinder Mahal for the gold in Manchester, England. That title change took place on Smackdown.

These days, Styles wears a different title belt around his waist as he is one-half of the Raw Tag Team Champions along with the giant Omos. The pair won the title from The New Day at WrestleMania 37 in a memorable encounter that saw Omos decimate both Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston.

Speaking on WWE’s The Bump, AJ Styles discussed his tag team partner and says despite a bumpy start he sees big things in Omos’ future:

“We are a well-oiled machine. We are the RAW Tag Team Champs because we know what each other is thinking, we know what’s next for my partner when I get in when he gets in – we know how to handle this thing. We got it. He was a little rocky at first, I’ll admit it, we figured it out. Now we’re beating people to pulps . . . This guy is a champion. This is what he does and he started with basketball and he’s gonna end [up] with, in my opinion, the WWE Championship.”

The WrestleMania bout was the first televised match of Omos’ wrestling career. He had a handful of matches on NXT live events where he holds wins over current AEW competitors Cezar Bononi and 2.0. Omos also appeared as Shane McMahon’s bouncer on the short-lived Raw Underground that aired during 2020.
