AEW News: Update on Win/Loss Records of AEW Wrestlers, Matches for Dynamite on Jan. 1, Taz Appearance

The following statement was made on All Elite Wrestling’s Facebook page regarding the win/loss records that they keep for their wrestlers. If you watch AEW programming with any regularity then you know that when a wrestler makes their entrance, there’s a graphic on-screen letting the viewer know what that person’s win/loss record is. In 2020, the records are going to reset. Here’s what AEW announced:

New 2020 annual records will begin on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday, January 1.

Career AEW records will be cumulative, and the annual records will reset each calendar year. The annual records will be increasingly important in the rankings as the new calendar year continues.

It was also announced recently that the updated AEW roster rankings will be posted on Wednesday mornings at 9am, so that means it’s the morning of their weekly Dynamite show.

The next edition of AEW Dynamite takes place on January 1 at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. It’s the same venue that they used for the AEW Fight for the Fallen event back in July. This episode is being called AEW Dynamite Homecoming because AEW was officially announced as a promotion on New Year’s Day in 2019, so it is their one year anniversary as a company. Here’s what is advertised for the show so far:

* The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega vs. Lucha Brothers and Pac

* Cody Rhodes vs. Darby Allin

* Will Jon Moxley accept Chris Jericho’s offer to join the Inner Circle? (Unlikely!)

* AEW Women’s World Championship Match: Riho vs. Britt Baker vs. Nyla Rose vs. Hikaru Shida

* MJF appearing live

There was going to be a match with Riho defending the AEW Women’s Title against Kris Statlander, but AEW announced today that Statlander will not be at Dynamite due to a prior booking.

The reason Statlander will be missing the show is due to a match for Bar Wrestling, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Taz will also be making an appearance on Dynamite next week. He has appeared for AEW previously as a guest announcer during one of their AEW Dark shows on Youtube.

An announcer role doesn’t seem to be an obvious route since they have a full announce team with Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur, but Tony Schiavone is missing Dynamite because he’ll be announcing the Sugar Bowl (college football) on the radio that day. That means Taz is going to fill in as an announcer on Dynamite next week. That was reported by the Wrestling Observer.

Good luck to AEW in 2020. I will continue to review Dynamite weekly right here on TJRWrestling.
