AEW News: Cody vs. Lance Archer for TNT Title at Double or Nothing May 23, Matches for Next Week’s Dynamite
The first match has been announced for AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view on Saturday, May 23. It’s going to be a matchup between Cody and Lance Archer in the finals of the TNT Championship Tournament with the winner of that match leaving as the inaugural TNT Champion. It’s the second men’s title in AEW.
Cody made the finals after he defeated Darby Allin in the semifinals last night on Dynamite. Cody had previously defeated Shawn Spears in the tournament.
Lance Archer made the finals thanks to a victory over Dustin Rhodes in the main event of last night’s episode of Dynamite. Archer beat Colt Cabana earlier in the tournament.
Both men have commented on the match:
Guess I’m the underdog huh?
Fans may not be in the arenas, but I’ve never felt more connected to them. Thank you for still loving, arguing about, analyzing the game.
Wrestling isn’t essential, but hope should be and I’m dedicating this match to all those who still have hope. https://t.co/PXqPnP9UvS

The #MurderHawkMonster@LanceHoyt left #TheNatural a bloody mess.
Will he do the same to the #AmericanNightmare Cody?

The venue for Double or Nothing hasn’t been announced yet, but it will likely be at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida, which is where the next three weeks of Dynamite are expected to take place in front of no fans.
TJR Thoughts: I think Archer is going to win the TNT Title to remain undefeated, but I may change my mind on that. Cody winning the title wouldn’t be a bad thing at all.
NEXT WEEK ON AEW DYNAMITE
Here’s what AEW has planned for Dynamite next week for what is expected to be a live show.
* Street Fight: Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara vs. Matt Hardy and Kenny Omega
* Jon Moxley vs. Frankie Kazarian
* MJF returns
It’s expected that AEW is going to tape the following week’s Dynamite a week early for a May 13th airing. The May 20th episode of Dynamite would be live and then Double or Nothing would also be live on May 23.
Since AEW only has one match announced for Double or Nothing right now, it’s expected that they will announce more matches next week.
