WWE Raw Posts Lowest Viewership Total Of 2016 Against U.S. Presidential Debate

TJR Wrestling

Yesterday’s edition of Monday Night Raw reached its lowest viewership in the show’s twenty-three-year history. Raw averaged 2.478 million viewers, which is a decrease of 8% from last week’s episode.

The reason behind Raw’s viewership hitting an all-time low was due to the fact that it was going up against the first United States Presidential Debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. The debate was the most watched presidential debate in American history, averaging 81.4 million viewers. Even Monday Night Football dropped 33% due to the debate, averaging only 8 million viewers as opposed to the 12.1 million viewers the game received last week.

According to PWTorch, Raw scored a 1.75 TV rating, which is down 11% from last week’s show. It is the lowest regular edition of Raw ever, but there was a Christmas Week episode on December 23, 1996 that scored a 1.5 rating to set the all-time low-point.

The hour-by-hour breakdown for last night’s Raw is as follows:

Hour 1 – 2.850 million viewers

Hour 2 – 2.381 million viewers

Hour 3 – 2.203 million viewers
