WWE: Randy Orton Knee Surgery News, Orton Comments

TJR Wrestling

It was announced on Friday that former 13-time WWE World Champion Randy Orton is out of action after a recent knee surgery. Here’s the story from WWE.com with comments from Orton.

Randy Orton has undergone successful surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear in his left knee, WWE.com can confirm.

“I’ve known I needed the surgery since late last year, but I’ve been waiting for the right time to get my knee cleaned out,” Orton told WWE.com. “Right now was the right time.”

The Viper is currently recovering at home with his family, but says he is “staying motivated to come back and dominate the blue brand.”

Stay with WWE.com as more details on Orton’s condition become available.

It’s not known how long Orton will be out of action but a meniscus tear in the knee is usually a two or three month recovery time. We also don’t know when he had the surgery, but that was likely done this week.

TJR Thoughts: Orton has been working on a reduced schedule for most of the last year anyway, so the timing worked out where he would miss the two week European tour, he’ll likely be out for Money in the Bank and should be back in time for SummerSlam. After 16 years on the main roster and millions of dollars in the bank, he likes to get time off to be with his family since he’s married with five kids at him (three step-kids).

It’s not known who Orton might feud with on Smackdown when he gets back in the ring, but with fresh heels on the show like Samoa Joe Andrade Almas and Big Cass, there are some options for him.
