WWE News: Shelton Benjamin Announces He’s Cleared To Return To Action

TJR Wrestling

Shelton Benjamin announced on Twitter that he is cleared to compete in a wrestling ring again after nine months of rehab for his shoulder.

Last July, WWE aired video packages on Smackdown Live about Benjamin returning to the company. However, they found that he had a shoulder injury that needed surgery in and he’s been unable to wrestle until now.

Now that he’s healthy, hopefully that means he’ll be back on WWE television soon. There’s no word on when that may be.

Benjamin originally signed with WWE as a standout collegiate wrestler in 2000, debuted on the main roster in late 2002 and was released in April 2010. During his WWE career he held the WWE Intercontinental Championship three times, the WWE Tag Team Championships twice and the WWE United States Championship.

TJR Thoughts: I’m happy for Shelton. I hope this leads to a WWE return for him. He’ll turn 42 years old later this year, so while I don’t expect a major push for him upon his WWE return, it will feel good to see him back in a WWE ring again.
