WWE News: Revolution Pro Wrestling To Host Qualifying Matches For WWE Global Cruiserweight Series

TJR Wrestling

It seems that British wrestling is all the rage right now as another British promotion will hold a WWE Cruiserweight Qualifying Series match. Yesterday I reported that Progress Wrestling would hold two matches later next month, and now Revolution Pro Wrestling have announced that they too will be holding a qualifying match.

Revolution Pro Wrestling, based in the south of England, announced the news earlier today on their website and Twitter, as seen below:

Here is the full statement from their website:

The news keeps rolling as today we are pleased to announce that Revolution Pro Wrestling will play host to a qualifying match for the eagerly anticipated WWE Global Cruiserweight Series.

Revolution Pro Wrestling joins the previously announced, Evolve and Progress Wrestling as hosts for the precursor to what is shaping up to be one of the most talked about and no pun intended ‘revolutionary’ tournaments to take place in wrestling history.

News on participants & dates will come soon. What we can say right now is that it’s an honour to have been selected as one of the global partners for this tournament and we are very excited for the opportunity to share our product with fans across the globe!

That now makes three independent promotions worldwide that have joined forces with the WWE to host these matches. EVOLVE, Progress Wrestling and now Revolution Pro Wrestling.

Ski’s Take – Another day passes and another huge Global Cruiserweight Series announcement. This time a different British promotion, Revolution Pro Wrestling.

RPW have been around for just under four years and have made a large foothold over here in the UK. Attracting stars from all over the world, and as a matter of fact, the current champion Zack Sabre Jr defeated AJ Styles for the title as seen in the above video.

The more I think about it, the more I see a pattern emerging. While trying to hype the match between Kevin Owens and Finn Balor last year for the Beast In The East Network special, WWE used footage from different promotions around the globe to showcase Finn Balor. Two of those promotions were Progress Wrestling and Revolution Pro Wrestling. Nearly a year later and both are now holding these qualifying matches for the Global Cruiserweight Series.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a third UK promotion is announced soon, as they too had their footage shown on WWE programming. Insane Championship Wrestling which last year drew the largest selling show for a British wrestling event in 35 years.
