WWE News: Hulk Hogan Interview – WM 33, Roman Reigns, The Rock

TJR Wrestling

WWE Legend and Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan recently sat down with Sports Illustrated to talk about Roman Reigns, Triple H and WrestleMania 33. Click here to read the interview in its entirety, but below are some highlights:

Thoughts on The Rock:

“I expect greatness out of The Rock every time he steps in the ring, and he always delivers. He’s still in his prime. My God, look at him. He could run through a brick wall right now. He can still go in the ring whenever he wants.”

Thoughts on Roman Reigns:

“If I was Roman Reigns, I would just listen to what the people want. If they want to boo me, then it’s like Razor Ramon would say–‘I’ll be the ‘Bad Guy’ for you.’ Roman Reigns should be as evil as he wants. If they’re booing him, then that’s what they want to see.”

Thoughts on working in front of big crowds:

“Once you get there in front of 100,000, the final element is how you respond to the people. Usually by the time you get to a crowd that big, you already have your act together. With a crowd that big–even if you bodyslam a giant–the signals come back awkwardly. It’s such a sea of people, you need to be able to read the crowd and roll to it. That’s why you see Triple H perform on a different level to connect with the crowd. That’s the mental aspect, and that shows you who the masters are out there.”

Thoughts on Samoa Joe:

“I know Samoa Joe well. Joe is a good man and quality person. He’s kind and gracious, and he always makes the right decisions. He’s on track, brother, and going to be a force to be reckoned with. Joe has stayed true to himself and true to who he is from day one. He’s as solid as they come. If I ever approached him with a few really crazy ideas–which I did–he was smart enough to know who he really was. Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, and AJ Styles can turn this whole thing upside down. There is a whole bunch of talent coming in and ready to take over, so it’s going to be very interesting to watch.”

Will He Appear at WrestleMania 33?:

“Never say never.”

Ski’s Take – Well let me tell you something brother!!!!…….If that wasn’t an exercise in ass kissing then I don’t know what is!

I know he desperately wants to build the bridges he notoriously burnt down and return to his home in the WWE, but to me that whole interview made me cringe. It was an unabashed PR interview. He basically made the WWE and everyone involved in the company look like $115 million!

He was not critical once about them or the product. Yes he made some points about Roman Reigns and AJ Styles, but it’s what we, the fans, have been saying for months. It felt like he was jumping on the bandwagon, about six months too late.

I admit, I’m not Hogan’s biggest fan. It’s out there on the net that I’m not, but that doesn’t want me stopping him from coming back to the ‘E. Even if it’s for nostalgia’s sake, he could and probably would still be a great draw for the company. I just don’t like that fact that, if you read between the lines, he’s politicking in that interview.

Hulk, brother, keep your head down and your ears open. You WILL be back in the WWE at some point. Just stop with the ass kissing as it makes you look desperate……..Yours Sincerely, A True Wrestling Fan.
