WWE News: Final Teams Announced For Mixed Match Challenge

TJR Wrestling

Hey yo. My name is Tommy Dinardi, yes I still quote Scott Hall 20 years later, and I’m new here to TJRWrestling. I’ll be posting some news on the site. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk some WWE news now that the full Mixed Match Challenge line-up has been revealed.

In case you don’t know, WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge will debut this coming Tuesday, January 16 at 10pmET on Facebook and will feature WWE male superstars teaming with female superstars in mixed tag matches, competing for $100,000 for the charity of their choice.

Smackdown finished off their pairings announcements with Shinsuke Nakamura revealing the news to Natalya that they would be teamed up, while Sami Zayn put on a disguise to surprise Becky Lynch as her partner.

This left Carmella as the final woman from SmackDown to be paired off with a member of The New Day that was left to the choosing of the WWE Universe. Big E ultimately won out on the vote.

The complete listing of teams for the tournament are as follows:

Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss (Raw)
Bobby Roode and Charlotte Flair (Smackdown)
Finn Balor and Sasha Banks (Raw)
Jimmy Uso and Naomi (Smackdown)
Apollo Crews and Nia Jax (Raw)
Rusev and Lana (Smackdown)
The Miz and Asuka (RAW)
Goldust and Alicia Fox (RAW)
Elias and Bayley (RAW)
Shinsuke Nakamura and Natalya (Smackdown)
Sami Zayn and Becky Lynch (Smackdown)
Carmella and Big E (SmackDown)

Tommy’s Thoughts: At the very least, this will be remembered as an interesting experiment. From real-life husbands and wives that have been kept apart on TV, to injuries snake biting some interesting pairs such as Bayley/Joe and Nia/Joe, to internet requests like Braun/Asuka, Finn/Bayley and Braun/Nia getting shut down, the reveals have been quite the mix of reality-age WWE with old-school bad comedy.

It’s hard to argue against teams like Braun/Alexa or Miz/Asuka, especially with how the outcome could impact their weekly characters, which only adds more intrigue. Now, if we could only get some details on how the rules of the competition will go.

If it’s any indication of how my tenure working for TJRWrestling will go: let’s hope for a huge success. 😉
