Report: ROH star Kyle O’Reilly likely headed to WWE, when Adam Cole may be WWE bound & news on other ROH stars

TJR Wrestling

Kyle O’Reilly, the former Ring of Honor Champion, is likely headed to World Wrestling Entertainment according to Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer noted that while it’s not official yet, it’s what ROH officials expect.

O’Reilly lost the ROH Title to Adam Cole at New Japan’s WrestleKingdom 11 event on Wednesday. The reason why he lost is because his contract with ROH expired and apparently he refused to sign a new ROH contract according to Pro Wrestling Sheet.

In other ROH talent contract news, the current ROH Champion Adam Cole is believed to be heading to WWE in May although he’s not contractually allowed to talk to them until May 1. There’s really no way of preventing him from answering a call from WWE or getting a text from them, though, so it looks like Cole to WWE might happen at some point this year.

Raymond Rowe, who is part of the War Machine tag team with Hanson, could be headed to WWE as well according to the Observer. Rowe wants to keep his team with Hanson going, but it’s not known if WWE would want both guys or just Rowe. They could end up staying with ROH and New Japan as another option as well.

There has been some recent good news for ROH in terms of keeping talent. The Observer noted that Jay Lethal recently re-signed with ROH for two more years while Bobby Fish, Christopher Daniels and Hangman Page also re-signed with ROH.

TJR Thoughts: I’m excited about O’Reilly heading to WWE. He’s a tremendous all around wrestler that is going to turn 30 this year, so he’s got a lot of years left ahead of him. He’s another talented Canadian as well, which makes me like him even more because us Canadians always rally behind the guys from here.

Adam Cole to WWE is something that has been rumored for years. This might be the year where it finally happens. Like O’Reilly, he’s a talented performer that is great in the ring and on the microphone. He’ll fit in very well. His buddy Kevin Owens is probably going to be very happy about that!
