Report: Dolph Ziggler Signs Contract Extension with WWE

TJR Wrestling

Dolph Ziggler’s WWE career is going to continue for at least two more years according to a report from Sports Illustrated. A lot of times when a WWE superstar re-signs with the company, the details of the contract aren’t made public. However, in this case, SI’s Justin Barrasso reported Ziggler’s deal is for two years at $1.5 million per year. That’s likely the downsize guarantee and that he can make more than that based on merchandise and other bonuses that a wrestler typically gets.

It was also reported by Barrasso that Ziggler always planned on staying with WWE and there was no intent for him to leave the company. That report was also backed up by the Wrestling Observer as well.

Last week, Ziggler’s very good friend The Miz re-signed with WWE for at least four more years. Two Cleveland boys with decade plus runs in WWE. Good for them.

TJR Thoughts: I’m happy for Ziggler getting a good payday. I don’t know if that contract is an increase from what he was making in the past or if it’s in line with what they were already paying him. I can think of other

I’m also intrigued to see if it means a bigger role for him. It appears that maybe that’s going to happen because he was off Smackdown for about two months after voluntarily giving up the US Title and an unimpressive performance in the Royal Rumble. On this week’s Smackdown, Ziggler main evented against Sami Zayn to earn a WWE Title shot at Fastlane. It’s pretty random with no build to it, but that’s WWE booking these days. It’s very lazy.

Anyway, congrats to Ziggler on the new deal. It’s well deserved.
