Major Update On AJ Styles’ WWE Status (Big News!)

TJR Wrestling

Former TNA and IWGP Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles will reportedly begin his tenure with WWE this coming week. This is according to PWInsider, who are saying this update on Styles’ WWE status is confirmed.

Styles is currently scheduled to be at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event this Sunday at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Styles is also scheduled to be at this week’s Raw from Miami and Smackdown taping from Tampa. It is not yet known whether Styles will make his WWE debut at the Royal Rumble or not, but it’s very likely that it will happen.

John Cena posted a photo of AJ Styles to his Instagram account this morning. WWE.com later reported on this as news, which teases the fact that Styles will be appearing on WWE television very soon.

The fact that PWInsider confirmed the news is similar to what happened with Sting in 2014 when they put the news out there prior to Survivor Series. It could be something where WWE gives them the information to share as a way to generate a buzz.

Mark’s reaction: This is very exciting news. I figured Styles would be making his debut soon, but to have this report come out alongside Cena posting a picture of Styles on his Instagram just makes the news that much sweeter. I’m hoping he makes his debut in the actual Royal Ruble match. Last I checked there were 13 names announced for the Rumble with two more names to be added depending on who wins the Fatal Four Way Tag Team pre-show match. That leaves 15 unannounced names and I think a Styles appearance is very likely.

Stephanie McMahon also teased an appearance from Styles in the Rumble match on this week’s Raw when she said that “someone the WWE Universe has never seen before” may win the Royal Rumble match and subsequently the WWE Title. There has also been rumors that the WWE plan on showing a vignette to hype up Styles’ debut. This could possibly happen on Sunday and he would then make his debut on Raw the next night. Although I think he’ll debut during the Rumble match, this is possible too; so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

How would you like to see AJ Styles make his WWE debut? Do you think there’s any shot at him entering the Royal Rumble match and winning the WWE Championship? It would certainly be one heck of a way to make an impact. Keep the conversation going by leaving any of your thoughts in the comment section below.
