James Storm Interview – Beer Money, Tag Team Gold, NXT

TJR Wrestling

TNA Superstar James Storm is in the UK right now promoting the Maximum Impact tour and TV tapings. He gave an interview for Radio Yorkshire, below are some highlights.

Reforming Beer Money with Bobby Roode:

“I always say, the better you beat each other, we broke up as Beer Money and beat each other other good, but we are now a team again, it’s like MMA fighters who beat each other up then have a drink afterwards just no one covers that.”

Possibly facing The Wolves for the TNA Tag Team Championship:

“A lot of people want to see that match up because it could be like when we were facing the Motor City Machine guns again, but we always pride ourselves on making the division as top as it can be when we were facing the likes of Team 3D, LAX and others.”

Whether he prefers being a face or heel:

“I enjoy both, they both have there perks and downsides. I say it is easy to annoy someone than to make them happy, people now want to cheer the bad guys for some reason.”

His stay with NXT:

“It was cool being in NXT, I made a lot of new friends, I saw a lot of old friends as well… I think NXT reminded me of a young TNA group, guys who were out to prove they deserved to be there and in TNA guys are trying to prove they can hang with The Wolves, Matt Hardy… the two groups don’t hate each other, they have to go out and do their job to the best of there abilities.”

Storm also spoke about who he thinks the next breakout stars will be in Impact Wrestling, winning the World title and the UK tour. You can listen to the full interview by clicking here.

Ski’s Take – When I used to watch TNA regularly Beer Money were one of the main reasons (shows how long ago it was). They were entertaining, had good matches, and I really wanted one of those boozer-cruisers.

As he talked about above, alongside LAX, Team 3D and The British Invasion, Beer Money ushered in a great tag team era, and in the breakup of the team, cemented themselves as future world champions.

In my opinion, when Hogan and Bischoff were calling the shots in TNA, Storm got lost in the shuffle. He was back in the midcard or tag team division, and never looked like reaching those heady championship heights again. I’m hoping that with his time away in NXT, management in TNA will use him properly again. The reformation of Beer Money is hopefully the start of the rise of James Storm.
